Below, you will find a list of sessions focused on Chronic Rhinosinusitis that we are eagerly looking forward to at 2025 AAAAI / WAO Joint Congress. The sessions are organized in chronological order for your convenience.
Recent Advances in Understanding Type 2 Inflammation in Chronic Rhinosinusitis
- Date: Friday, February 28
- Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM PST
- Location: Convention Center, Upper Level, Room 5A
- This course will feature speakers presenting their latest translational research on the role of genetic polymorphisms, structural cells, innate immune cells, and adaptive immune cells in contributing to type 2 inflammation in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS).
Biologics for Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (CRSwNP)
- Date: Saturday, March 1
- Time: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM PST
- Location: Marriott Marquis, North Tower, Lobby Level, Torrey Pines 3
- With the multitude of biologics available for the treatment of Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (CRSwNP), this seminar aims to shed light on the potential side effects associated with each specific to the indication of CRSwNP. The discussion will encompass ocular, dermatologic, and musculoskeletal side effects, among others, providing evidence-based recommendations for effectively managing side effects linked to biologic therapy.
How to Adapt the Practice of Allergy and Immunology to Climate Change
- Date: Saturday, March 1
- Time: 8:15 AM – 9:45 AM PST
- Location: Convention Center, Ground Level, Hall A
- The upcoming plenary session is designed to provide Allergist/Immunologists with a comprehensive update on the impact of climate change on the care of patients with rhinitis. The session will delve into the changes in aerobiology worldwide due to climate change, exploring recent shifts and future projections. Additionally, the discussion will focus on the effects of these changes and the influence of air pollutants on Allergic and Non-Allergic Rhinitis, as well as Chronic Rhinosinusitis.
- Furthermore, the session will highlight recent data concerning the impact of climate change on the epidermal barrier. Practical recommendations will be provided on how individual practitioners and the field of Allergy/Immunology can modify diagnostic aeroallergen testing panels and immunotherapy prescribing patterns to better adapt to climate change. Special attention will be given to environmental disparities that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
- Date: Saturday, March 1
- Time: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM PST
- Location: Marriott Marquis, North Tower, Lobby Level, Rancho Santa Fe 2
- Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a complex inflammatory condition that impacts up to 14% of the U.S. population. The management of CRS involves a range of medical approaches, such as nasal saline irrigations, intranasal corticosteroid therapies, and, in some cases, short courses of systemic antibiotics and steroids. For patients who do not respond to these treatments, endoscopic sinus surgery may be recommended to alleviate symptoms, improve sinus drainage, and enhance the effectiveness of post-operative medical care.
- This seminar, organized by the IRSO Interest Section in collaboration with WAO, aims to explore the decision-making process involved in the treatment of CRS. Both patients and healthcare providers may encounter this process when considering the option of endoscopic sinus surgery.
New Insights into Chronic Rhinosinusitis
- Date: Saturday, March 1
- Time: 12:30 PM – 1:45 PM PST
- Location: Convention Center, Upper Level, Room 6B
- The upcoming symposium will showcase groundbreaking translational and epidemiologic discoveries in patients suffering from chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The focus will be on demographic characteristics and epithelial immune interactions that contribute to the severity of CRS, as well as the link between CRS and the development of lower airway diseases.
- Date: Monday, March 3
- Time: 11:15 AM – 12:30 PM PST
- Location: Convention Center, Upper Level, Room 1A
- Chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a complex inflammatory disorder affecting the upper airways. Effective treatment of CRS necessitates a personalized approach tailored to each patient's unique needs. This symposium aims to explore specific aspects of CRS that can be assessed to develop a targeted therapeutic strategy. Topics of discussion will include the evaluation of the microbiome, the impact of immune deficiency on CRS development, and the presence of comorbidities such as bronchiectasis. Additionally, the symposium will address the current status of biomarkers for guiding treatment of CRS using biologics.
