The 67th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Headache Society is quickly approaching. From June 19 through June 22, at the Minneapolis Convention Center, physicians, researchers, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and others will gather to meet and discuss the latest advances and innovations in headache medicine.
The four-day conference is packed with engaging sessions, presentations, and continuing education opportunities. For your convenience, we’ve outlined the sessions discussing migraine therapy and treatment strategies.
Thursday, June 19
- 7:00 AM – 7:45 AM
- Description: This session will cover advances in migraine therapies that target calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and how providers can best use those advances to benefit patients. New guideline treatment options will be discussed along with integration strategies.
- 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM
- Description: The session features Dr. Stewart Tepper and Dr. Amaal Starling presenting innovative interictal duration and patient-reported, quality-of-life outcome analysis from two clinical trials with an anti-CGRP mAb. Topics of discussion include what the outcomes mean for clinical practice and research, along with how they highlight the significance of the interictal period in a patient’s life.
Friday, June 20
- 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Description: The hour-long presentation is set to discuss a new treatment option for acute migraine using a multi-mechanistic approach. Join the two speakers, Jessica Ailani, MD, FAHS, and Wade Cooper, DO, FAHS, as they usher attendees through this exciting discourse.
- 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
- Description: Attendees of this session will receive expert guidance on migraine symptomology and pathophysiology, migraine management tactics, treatment options for migraines, integrating those treatment options into holistic patient-centric care, and preventive migraine care optimization. Topics include CGRP-targeting treatment, how that targeted treatment has advanced migraine care, understanding how to integrate CGRP-targeting therapies into practice, and more.
Saturday, June 21
- 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Description: In this hour-long session, Wade Cooper, DO, FAHS, presents an overview for treating migraine patients, including a review of treatment strategies using CGRP receptor agonists. Several clinical scenarios will be presented to help session attendees understand real-world implementations.
Next Generation Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for Migraine Trials: The MiCOAS Program
- 8:00 AM – 8:20 AM
- Description: During this session, Richard B. Lipton, MD, discusses the most important degrees of measure based on research from the Patient Reported Outcome Measures in migraine clinical trials. A discussion of the development of the measures and the psychometric validation of the measures is planned.
