Held in Phoenix, Arizona, the conference was four days packed with insightful presentations and excellent networking opportunities for professionals from around the world to gather and discuss the latest in diabetes healthcare.

High-Protein Diet Impact on Cardiovascular Risk in Individuals with Diabetes: Pro-HEART Trial Analysis
- Description: This poster outlines a secondary analysis of the Pro-HEART trial, a randomized controlled trial comparing the effects of a three-month intervention of a high-protein diet, “HPD” (30% protein), to a standard-protein diet, “SPD” (15% protein), in adults with overweight/obesity, heart failure, and T2D or metabolic syndrome.
Diabetes Prevention Among American Indian Youth: The Victory Program
- Description: This poster provides insight into a multidisciplinary team approach to a lifestyle modification program for families among the American Indian population in northern Arizona within the Winslow Service Area. This program, named Victory, involves a pediatric clinic with frequent follow-up visits, group sessions, and case management.
Baylor Scott & White Health Plan’s BSW Be Well With Diabetes Program
- Description: This poster describes Baylor Scott & White Health Plan’s BSW Be Well™ with Diabetes program that supports necessary changes, helps manage diabetes, and provides diabetes medications/supplies at no cost. This resulted in increased medication taking, better follow-up with provider visits, and more. The program is managed by a clinical pharmacist who is a CDCES. Eligible members enroll in this incentive-based wellness program, which incorporates the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Standards of Care. Members engage in 1:1 health coaching and are empowered to take an active role in managing their health.
Urinary Caffeine Metabolites and HbA1c: A Case-Control Study Using NHANES 2009-2014
- Description: This poster reviews a study that employs a case-control design, analyzing NHANES data from 2009 to 2014, focusing on non-pregnant adults aged 20 and older. Participants were categorized into three groups by HbA1c levels, and urinary caffeine metabolites were assessed using logistic regression. This poster presents insights into the relationship between caffeine metabolism and HbA1c, as well as how sociodemographic and lifestyle factors were accounted for in the analysis.
Feasibility of an Online Intervention: Diabetes Self-Management Education Plus Tai Chi Easy
- Description: This poster reviews a project to equitably expand access to diabetes education and self-management support for working adults (40-64 years old) with T2D. An online Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program combined with a Tai Chi Easy (DSMES+TCE) intervention was delivered asynchronously. The acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of the DSMES+TCE intervention were assessed post-intervention. Self-reported physical and psychological health and health behaviors were assessed pre-intervention and post-intervention using valid and reliable questionnaires and multisensory wearable smart rings.
