The American Optometric Association (AOA) just opened a draft manuscript for their clinical practice guideline regarding comprehensive pediatric eye and vision exams to public comment. The draft guideline, Comprehensive Pediatric Eye and Vision Examination, is now open for comment from healthcare professionals and the general public. This is the guideline's second edition, with the first edition having been published in 2017.

The second edition features updated research and clinical information on the diagnosis of pediatric vision problems. The AOA notes that the patient history section was expanded to include congenital and developmental influences affecting eye health. Additionally, newly added sections on myopia development and progression along with information on the impact of digital devices on eye health were added into the second edition.
