The 5th World Congress of Optometry, hosted at Optometry’s Meeting, takes place June 25 through June 28 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The annual event is a combination of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the American Optometric Student Association, and the World Council of Optometry.

Glaucoma Mimickers for Primary Eye Care Providers

  • 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Description: To describe clinical cases of non-glaucomatous optic neuropathy with emphasis on key elements that can help distinguish non-glaucomatous optic neuropathy from glaucomatous optic neuropathy.

Glaucoma Basics for the Paraoptometric

  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Description: This lecture will discuss basic ocular anatomy and how glaucoma can develop over time, including an overview on the progression of glaucoma and its secondary vision effects. Glaucoma medications will also be discussed along with modern surgical options.

The Best of Ocular Disease Jeopardy

  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Description: This course discusses the treatment and management of various ocular diseases seen in a tertiary, academic hospital setting. Case presentation topics range from anterior segment, glaucoma, retina, and “zebras.”

Breaking Down Secondary Glaucoma

  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Description: Secondary glaucoma will be discussed with case presentations, which will include common ocular signs and gonioscopy findings. This course will provide an explanation of the different treatments that can be used with secondary glaucoma.
