Maintaining physical activity and a healthy lifestyle is essential for older adults to support physiological health and personal independence. As people age, they face a heightened risk of musculoskeletal decline, including conditions such as osteoporosis and heart disease.
Engaging in regular exercises and aerobic activity can help preserve bone mass, lower blood pressure, reduce the likelihood of falls, and enhance vascular function. Adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D further supports skeletal health, contributing to fracture prevention and enhanced mobility. Additionally, consistent physical activity is linked to improved mental health outcomes, including reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression.
For National Senior Health and Fitness Day, we wanted to spotlight on some of the guidelines that can help older patients live healthier, happier, and longer lives.
