Dietary Interventions for Obesity with and without GLP-1s
- Date: Friday, April 25, 2025
- Time: 11:35 AM – 12:35 PM East Coast USA Time
- Location: Potomac AB
- Description: This session will explore how dietary interventions can complement obesity treatment, focusing on culturally sensitive, patient-centered approaches. With the advent of effective GLP-1 medications, many patients are successfully managing their weight, but not everyone has access or tolerance for these drugs. The session will emphasize strategies that go beyond traditional "eat less" advice, promoting nutrient-dense foods that support satiety and metabolic health. For patients on GLP-1s, the goal is to maintain nutrient intake while minimizing muscle loss. The session will provide clinicians with practical, evidence-based dietary advice for patients both on and off GLP-1 medications.

This session will provide practical strategies for early diagnosis and risk assessment, using non-invasive diagnostic tools. Evidence-based lifestyle interventions, including dietary changes and physical activity, will be highlighted for their role in reversing MASLD and improving MASH. Participants will also explore the impact of weight loss, especially a ≥10% reduction, and review emerging pharmacological treatments such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors, and resmetirom.
