Advancements in cancer treatments are rapidly evolving, making oncology the medical specialty that experiences the highest number of new and updated guidelines each year. This Guidelines Rundown article will examine the new ASCO, NCCN and other oncology guidelines published in January 2025.

National Comprehensive Cancer Network, or NCCN for short, is one of two organizations that publishes the most clinical practice guidelines in the medical oncology specialty area, the other being the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Both NCCN and ASCO Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology provide various levels of recommendations for preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and supportive services that are intended to help deliver better quality care, and improve patient outcomes. While ASCO prioritizes a rigorous guideline development methodology, the NCCN prioritizes speed. Both offer tremendous value with their guidelines to oncologists across the US, and the globe.

With that said, let’s take a look at the new or newly updated clinical practice guidelines published by both NCCN and ASCO (and a couple others) during the month of January 2025.
