The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has recently released two draft research plans: Tobacco Cessation in Adults: Interventions and Cognitive Impairment in Older Adults: Screening.
The primary objective of the tobacco cessation guideline is to provide interventions and strategies for tobacco cessation in adults, regardless of their readiness to quit, while also preventing relapse. The cognitive impairment guideline aims to ensure screening for cognitive impairment, including mild cognitive impairment or dementia, in older adults. The USPSTF highlights the importance of early detection and appropriate care planning for individuals with mild cognitive impairment or mild-to-moderate dementia.
To ensure these recommendations are effective and relevant, the USPSTF is inviting feedback from healthcare providers and other interested parties. The draft research plans are currently open for public comment, with the following deadlines:
- March 26, 2025: Feedback on Tobacco Cessation in Adults: Interventions [click here]
- April 2, 2025: Feedback on Cognitive Impairment in Older Adults: Screening [click here]
Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their feedback to contribute to the development of these important documents.
