Title
PAH at Follow-Up: For the Patients Who Don’t Achieve Low Risk
Link
Description
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) remains a progressive and life-limiting condition despite advancements in diagnosis and treatment. This enduring webcast, “PAH at Follow-Up: For the Patients Who Don’t Achieve Low Risk,” is presented by expert faculty Dr. Ioana Preston with moderator NP Corinne Young as they address the critical clinical decision points involved in managing patients who do not achieve low-risk status after initial PAH therapy. Through evidence-based frameworks and real-world case discussions, the faculty guide learners in interpreting hemodynamic and biomarker data, risk stratification tools, and the application of emerging data to refine therapeutic strategies. The activity provides a detailed review of the 7th World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension treatment algorithm and 2022 ESC/ERS guidelines, emphasizing when and how to intensify therapy using agents such as prostacyclin receptor agonists (e.g., selexipag), activin pathway inhibitors (e.g., sotatercept), or inhaled treprostinil. Additionally, the webcast introduces new and investigational therapies, including pipeline agents such as seralutinib and TPIP. Learners will gain the tools to personalize treatment escalation pathways and collaborate effectively to improve PAH care and outcomes for their patients.
Target Audience
The target audience for this program will include cardiologists and cardiology focused advance practice providers (APPs; nurse practitioners [NPs] and physician associates/assistants [PAs]); pulmonologists and pulmonary-focused APPs; as well as, primary care clinicians (e.g., physicians [MDs, DOs], nurse practitioners [NPs], and physician associates/assistants [PAs]) caring for patients with or at risk for Pulmonary Artery Hypertension.
Learning Objectives
  • Review the diagnostic workup for patients with suspected PAH.
  • Discuss initial therapy in PAH, including selecting patients for newer fixed-dose combination therapy.
  • Incorporate guideline- and evidenced-based approaches to adjusting therapies in patients with PAH not achieving low-risk status.
  • Review the landscape of emerging agents for PAH, noting mechanistic targets and available clinical data.
