Document Objectives

The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) was established to increase awareness about asthma among healthcare providers, public health authorities and communities, to improve management of asthma, and to help prevent asthma. For populations, the goal of asthma management is to prevent asthma deaths and minimize the burden of asthma on individuals, families, communities, health systems and the environment. For individuals with asthma of all ages, the goal of asthma management is to achieve the patient’s best possible long-term outcomes:
