The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has announced that their latest draft manuscript for the Management of Functional Seizures Practice Guideline is now open for public comment. This practice guideline offers updated evidence-based recommendations on psychological and pharmacological interventions for the management of functional seizures. The primary goal of this guideline is to address treatment gaps, challenge stigma, and enhance patient outcomes. Furthermore, the guideline identifies areas where evidence is lacking or inadequate, with the purpose of directing future research endeavors.
As part of the AAN's development process, they welcome reviews and feedback from neurologists, healthcare professionals, researchers, individuals with functional seizures, and caregivers of those affected by functional seizures. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments here by March 25, 2025. Please be advised that all comments must be submitted in one session to ensure they are taken into consideration.
