In recognition of Black History Month and American Heart Health Month 2025, this article will highlight the impactful work of the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC). The ABC is a distinguished nonprofit organization boasting an international membership of over 2,000 health professionals, community health advocates, corporate members, and institutional members. Their primary focus is on eliminating disparities related to cardiovascular disease within communities of color. Through strategic public and private partnerships, the ABC continues to expand its reach and influence in communities nationwide.
At the core of the ABC's mission is the belief that good health is fundamental to progress. They are unwavering in their commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to all, with a specific emphasis on reducing the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and stroke within minority populations. Advocacy and diversity are key pillars of their work, guided by ethical principles and a dedication to excellence in training and skills.
In alignment with the ABC's vital mission and values, this article will offer a unique perspective by highlighting the guidelines ABC took part in, as well as the recommendations and research aimed at promoting health equity and addressing gaps in care to enhance patient outcomes.
