ASTRO 2026 Conference Preview for Genitourinary Cancer

The 2026 annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) is just a few weeks away. From September 26 through September 30, in Boston, Massachusetts, the 2026 ASTRO annual meeting is five days filled with poster presentations, educational sessions, continuing education opportunities, networking events, and more.

• Practical Tips for Optimizing Your Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Program

  • Description: [This session] will be focused on the RPTs utilized in GU oncology. This session will focus on optimizing and advancing radiopharmaceutical (RPT) programs within community radiation oncology practices. The target audience will be community practices contemplating starting an RPT program as well as existing programs wishing to strengthen their programs.

• Escalate, De-Escalate, or Substitute? Trials Shaping Prostate Cancer Care
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Description: This session includes discussions on topics including brachytherapy versus external beam dose-escalated boost for intermediate-risk prostate cancer, intermittent androgen deprivation therapy with or without stereotactic body radiotherapy for molecularly identified hormone sensitive oligometastatic prostate cancer, and more.

• Prostate SBRT 2.0: Refining Indications, Optimizing Outcomes
  • 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM
  • Description: Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has become an established option for localized prostate cancer, offering convenience and excellent disease control. This session will begin with a concise review of current patient selection criteria and standard dosing strategies based on completed clinical trials, then move into cutting-edge refinements shaping the next generation of SBRT practice.

• ASTRO GU Guideline Session: Radiation Therapy for Bladder Cancer and Localized Prostate Cancer: A Case-Based Interactive Discussion

  • Description: This is a case-based session designed to provide attendees with practical guidance on two new ASTRO genitourinary guidelines. The session will be split between the bladder cancer and localized prostate cancer guidelines, highlighting key recommendations and new evidence.

• Fewer Fractions, Greater Precision: Innovations in Prostate SBRT
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Description: This session will feature presentations on five year outcomes from a prospective trial of MR-guided SBRT with focal DIL boost for intermediate-risk prostate cancer, stereotactic magnetic resonance-guided adaptive radiation therapy (SMART) for pelvic reirradiation, and more.

• Date to Dialogue: Techniques and Outcomes for Optimizing Microboosting in Prostate Cancer
  • 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Description: The purpose of this session is to review the various ways of doing a microboost to help the audience feel more comfortable with microboosting and determining the way that will work best in their practice to start doing this.
