The 2025 annual conference of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is set for October 11 through October 14 in Nashville, Tennessee. Known as the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE), the annual meeting is packed with educational sessions wherein attendees can earn up to 19.5 CPEUs through educational sessions.

Weighing the Opportunities: Optimizing Obesity Treatment for Healthy Aging

  • 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
  • Description: This session will provide an overview of: age-associated changes in body weight and composition; the impact of obesity and intentional weight loss on musculoskeletal outcomes in older adults; countermeasure strategies to mitigate weight loss associated musculoskeletal tissue loss; the long-term effects of intentional weight loss on musculoskeletal health outcomes; and clinical recommendations to minimize muscle and bone loss with weight loss in older adults living with obesity.

Empowering Dietitians in the Management of Obesity Medications

  • 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Description: This panel session will focus on the critical examination of multiple case studies that explore the integration of nutrition and anti-obesity medications in clinical practice. With the rise in obesity rates and utilization of pharmacotherapy treatment, this session is designed to offer attendees a nuanced understanding of how these interventions can be effectively combined to achieve better health outcomes in real-world settings.

Balancing Act: Navigating Patient Goals and Health-First Approaches in Weight Care

  • 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
  • Description: This groundbreaking lecture addresses the challenge faced by registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) when counseling patients who seek weight loss: how to remain patient-focused and honor their goals while staying true to evidence that prioritizing health over weight may provide more holistic, lasting benefits.

Emerging Endoscopic Bariatric and Metabolic Therapies and the Essential role of the RDN

  • 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Description: This session will familiarize registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) with emerging endoscopic bariatric therapies for obesity and emphasize their role in the interdisciplinary care team. Advancements in procedures such as endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), transoral outlet reduction (TORe), vertical sleeve gastrectomy revisions, and intragastric balloons have expanded treatment options and improved patient outcomes.

The Obesity and Weight Management track also includes sessions focusing on GLP-1s. Below is a brief rundown of each of the scheduled GLP-1-focused sessions.
