COPD Clinical Guidelines Roundup for World COPD Day 2022 Hero Image

November 16, 2022 is World COPD Day – a day organized by GOLD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) to help raise awareness of COPD across the globe.

This World COPD Day 2022, we are taking a deep dive into all of the current COPD guidelines from various organizations in the USA. This includes guidelines from organizations in many areas of medicine spanning from: pulmonology and critical care, long-term care, nutrition and more.

Looking Ahead Towards World COPD Day 2023 and Upcoming COPD Clinical Guidelines and Guideline Updates

From our collaboration with the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care, we can confidently say that no new COPD guidelines of theirs are planned for publication in the first half of 2023, and likely none planned for the second half of 2023, either. Given the recent  USPSTF and VA/DoD guideline updates, it’s highly unlikely anything from them will be published in 2023, either. So that essentially leaves CHEST as the only other possible entity (besides GOLD) who may publish a new or updated COPD Guideline in 2023.

Are there any COPD Guidelines that we may have missed? Or do you know of a new COPD guideline or planned update likely publishing between World COPD Day 2022 and World COPD Day 2023? If so, feel free to contact us.
